Structure is a key to learning to make wise life choices. But that structure must be based in the foundation of the Living Word. That’s the premise from which Heather Gieck now lives her life and on which her ministry to women like her will be based. The Healing House and New Beginnings Inc. will provide a safe haven for women released from prison or in recovery from alcohol and drug addiction to concentrate on rebuilding their lives.

A group of Baptists from Missouri recently visited Cuba to learn about Baptists in that island nation. Eight Missourians joined four other Baptists last month to bridge religious, political and cultural divides between the two countries.

A worship service and banquet on Nov. 6 marked the 75th anniversary of the Baptist Student Center at Southeast Missouri State University — a ministry started in an imperfect time but simply forged ahead.

Messengers to the Missouri Baptist Convention approved five resolutions without comment or debate during their closing session Oct. 29 at Tan-Tar-A Resort, including one on same-sex marriage and another on human sex trafficking.
