Adults over 55 years old from across the state spend time visiting before worship begins at a fall retreat at Windermere Baptist Conference Center Sept. 21-23.

living for others at a fall retreat Sept. 21–23 at Windermere Baptist Conference Center.

Sponsored by The Baptist Home, the retreat focused on the theme, “Christ-like Living for Others,” based on Philippians 1:27.

Bobby Shows, former senior adult specialist for the Missouri Baptist Convention and director of Sports Crusaders, led a devotion to begin each day.

Wade Paris, a retired director of missions, served as Bible study leader. He led four sessions in a study of Philippians.

Worship leaders for the three-day event included Philip H. Briggs of Fort Worth, Texas, as retreat preacher and Rosemary Hoover of Independence, who led music. Briggs and Hoover led five worship services that reflected the retreat’s theme.

Attendees also could choose from among numerous recreational activities and education conferences in which to participate. They also enjoyed concerts by Briggs and Hoover, the bluegrass group Potters Wheel and Broadway on the Driveway, a St. Louis swing group. The last evening included a variety show in which retreat participants starred.

The Baptist Home has set next year’s Fall Celebration for Adults 55+ for the third week of September at Windermere.
