DALLAS—Six Texas Baptist Men disaster relief teams have been deployed to serve in the wake of devastating tornados in Alabama.

Five chainsaw teams and a shower unit are on the scene or soon will be en route to the affected area.

Chainsaw teams are from LakePointe Church in Rockwall, First Baptist Church in San Antonio, First Baptist Church in New Braunfels, Campground Baptist Church in Woodville and the Harmony-Pittsburg Baptist Association. The active shower unit is from Hill Country Baptist Association.

The relief teams will work out of Tuscaloosa and Coleman, Ala. TBM is working in conjunction with the Southern Baptist Convention North American Mission Board and Alabama Baptist Men.

“Texas Baptist Men is responding right now to help the victims of the devastating tornado in Tuscaloosa,” said TBM Associate Executive Director Mickey Lenamon.

“We expect to be in the Alabama area for many weeks to come.  Please be in prayer for our volunteers for their safety and that they can be the presence of Christ to these hurting people."

TBM’s disaster relief efforts rely on designated gifts to finance the ministry. To support TBM disaster relief ministry, visit www.texasbaptistmen.org.
