Wilson-Hartgrove shares Good Samaritan experience in Iraq

Author and speaker Jonathan Wilson-Hartgrove shared how medical personnel in a bomb-damaged clinic assisted Americans injured in an automobile accident in Iraq. The experience led him to open Rutba House, a ministry of hospitality, in Durham, N.C., he told attendees at the Churchnet Annual Gathering April 11-12. 
 
Hate-monger hits close to home

The only cure for hate is a changed heart. That doesn’t necessarily happen in a court of law or behind bars. In the case of Frazier Glenn Cross, deeply embedded hate at a young age has resulted in a wasted life and flowered into a premeditated rage. For him, hate finally grew to its logical conclusion. A person rarely controls hate. Rather, hate controls that person.

In a whirlwind tour through Missouri April 1-3, the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship executive coordinator shared her vision for the CBF in the years ahead. CBF will focus on identity, mission and ministry to live out God’s call to the church and the individual members of the body.
 
Roberson: Women must go forward and serve

Jean Roberson of national Woman's Missionary Union shared from the past to point members of Missouri WMU to service now and in the future. She spoke during the state organization's missions celebration and 90th annual meeting April 405 at Second Baptist Church in Springfield. Attendees celebrated with the theme "The Story Lives On: Celebrate, Connect, Commit." 
 
Mission efforts can help bring believers together to make a difference. Word&Way highlights three national ministries: Together for Hope, a Cooperative Baptist Fellowship effort to minister in the 20 poorest U.S. counties; Woman's Missionary Union, through MissionsFEST, FamilyFEST and Christian Women's and Men's Job Corps; and refugee ministry that American Baptist Churches USA  are involved in through Church World Service.
